As mentioned above, the necessary rigidity creates an axial centerline, in which direction a direct impact force cannot be resisted. Again we have sought to minimize the possibility of this happening. One method would be to create a shorty lever that can be inset from the end of the handlebar, to create a situation where the handlebar absorbs the greatest portion of the impact prior to the lever striking the ground. This creates a shorted moment arm and actually increases perceived lever pull. Our solution is to maintain the lever length and therefore the easier pull characteristic, but to allow the inset positioning by creating an angle in the perch. The limiting factor on perch placement is the bend in the handlebar and clearance in the back of the lever for the grip ring. With the "angled" perch and extended grip clearance of the Forever Lever you can inset the mounting position for the most protection available.
