Engine Bearing Definitions

Here are some of the more familiar ID marks that can be found on bearings and what they represent.
  • RS - Bearings are sealed on one side.
  • 2RS - Bearings are sealed on both sides.
  • Z - Bearings are metal shielded on one side.
  • ZZ - Bearings are metal shielded on both sides.
  • N - Bearings are grooved for circlip retention.
  • P - Bearing has a peg hole for location.
  • C3 -Bearing has larger internal radial clearances, normally used in applications where bearing temperatures can rise quickly ie. engines.

    The engine bearings below are listed by their size and manufacturers identification number, they are the most commonly used engine bearings. For those of you with Trail bikes etc., you should find your bearings listed below by part number or matching the sizes.
